Assistant Treasurer Opening The Assistant Treasurer opening on the U5MP board should be filled by an adult volunteer with a student in a music program that attends or will attend Normal West. The adult volunteer needs to commit for at least 2 years and be available to attend the monthly U5MP meetings. Meetings are currently held the first Tuesday of the month in September – November and January – May and last approximately 1 hour. During the pandemic the meetings have been held online but prior to the pandemic were held in the IMC at NCHS and NCWHS.
The Assistant Treasurer is also a member of the U5MP Executive Board. There could be additional meeting time for planning or other discussions but has been minimal in the past.
With the amount of deposit and payment activity that typically occurs during a school year, having only one treasurer is not ideal. There is nothing in the U5MP by-laws that indicates the treasurer position must be filled by a specific high school program. Anyone can volunteer or be nominated for the assistant treasurer role on the U5MP board. The U5MP board is asking for someone who has an interest in being a part of the organization to be from a feeder school to Normal West or from Normal West.

In addition to looking for a new Assistant Treasurer, we are also in search of a new CPA to conduct our annual audits, beginning next summer for the 2021-2022 school year. Our current CPA firm was obtained through a parent volunteer and provided a STEEP discount. Please refer to the February meeting minutes we sent in preparation for the March 2 meeting for additional details.
